A Baytown Lee teacher was shot and killed over the weekend and investigators said it was his own dog that shot him.

Perry Alvin Price was hunting near Stowell on Saturday when the shooting occurred. Chambers County deputies said Price’s Labrador retriever was in the back of the man’s truck and was jumping up and down.

At some point, the rambunctious dog managed to land on the trigger of a shotgun that was also in the back of the truck. The gun went off and Price was hit in the thigh.

The poor chap died from blood loss.

I know gun control is a tetchy subject in the US and one should not be disrespectful to the dead. But we’re not like that here. We ain’t PC. Heck some of us non-US types think it’s still the Wild West out there.

I gotta ask - what kind of dog owner puts their pet pooch in the back of a truck with a loaded shotgun? Don’t they know the dog’s gonna take the short cut to killing rabbits? No running around after the furry critters. They’ll straight up and shoot their ass.
